KATHMANDU, JUNE 18

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel has stated that the government will ensure adequate budget allocation for disaster management across the country.

Speaking during a discussion with a joint team of elected representatives from Lalitpur district on Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister Poudel assured that disaster-induced floods and landslides would be addressed as promptly as possible.

Reaffirming his commitment to allocate funds through the relevant ministry, in coordination with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), Poudel also responded positively to the concerns raised by the all-party delegation of local representatives.

The team, led by Nepali Congress leader and Member of the House of Representatives Udaya Shumsher Rana, requested immediate financial support for the reconstruction of settlements and infrastructure damaged by last monsoon's floods.

Additionally, the delegation urged that the Rs 250 million allocated for the Lele–Bhardeu–Chandanpur–Thuladurlung road project be mobilized as a multi-year initiative. They also called for immediate compensation for individuals affected by the Satdobato–Chapagaun and Satdobato–Godavari road expansion works.
