No stopping elections: PM

Biratnagar, March 5

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal today claimed that elections of the local level would not stop at any cost

Speaking to journalists at Biratnagar Airport today, PM Dahal said that discussions to bring the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front on board for local elections were on. He expressed confidence that the disgruntled force would join the election process after the number of local bodies were increased in the new report.

PM Dahal said that Local Bodies Restructuring Commission would submit the report today after increasing the number of local bodies. He further clarified that constitution amendment was necessary for election of provincial and federal structures while it was not necessary for the local polls.

PM Dahal, who is also the Chairperson of the ruling CPN-Maoist Centre, said the government was serious about addressing the concerns of Madhesi, Tharu and other marginalised communities to bolster unity among the people of Tarai, hills and mountains. He also added that he was preparing to forge consensus among parties to amend the constitution.
