Non-implementation of minimum pay miffs journos

Ramechhap, February 13

Journalists in Ramechhap have expressed dissatisfaction with the authorities’ reluctance to implement the minimum salary threshold proposed for journalists.

Speaking at an interaction organised by Minimum Salary Determination Committee in Ramechhap district headquarters Manthali today, journalists blamed the committee and other stakeholders of being apathetic.

On his part, District Coordination Committee Ramechhap Chief Prem Bahadur Khadka expressed concern about non-implementation of the minimum salary threshold.

“As the wage floor was decided by the committee and was reasonable, all media houses operating here should ensure that they provide minimum salary to journalists,” he said, also pledging that the local level was always ready to help in that regard.
