Not in any party, politics not my cup of tea: Rameshwore Khanal

KATHMANDU: Former Secretary Rameshwore Khanal, who was one of the founding leaders of the Baburam Bhattarai-led Naya Shakti Nepal, has said that he is not affiliated with any political party any more.

It is widely believed that he will join the yet to be formed Sajha Party, led by Rabindra Mishra.

Responding to a tweet that asked him to quit the Naya Shakti Party or change its leadership, Khanal wrote that he was not in any party and politics was not his cup of tea.

Khanal had remained inactive in the Naya Party Nepal for some months due to irrevocable differences with Baburam Bhattarai.

It is the first time that he publicly said he was not with the party.

Prior to the Constituent Assembly II elections in 2013, Khanal had entered the Nepali Congress but left the party in a few months.

He had expressed his desire to contest in the elections from Palpa Constituency No. 3. But the party denied him a ticket and was excluded in the list of Proportional Representation candidates also.
