Notary Act in need of makeover

KATHMANDU: Supreme Court ad hoc judge Prakash Chandra Sharma Wasti on Friday voiced the need for amendment in the Nepal Notary Public Act, 2006.

Inaugurating the first national conference of Notary Public Association of Nepal (NPAN), Wasti said the Act required amendment at the earliest in order to provide service in a more systematic and effective way. He also called to expand the service for easy access to common people. Wasti called on the notary public to be more responsible to provide service. Chairman of Nepal Bar Association Bishwo Kanta Mainali demanded action against those involved in irregularities. Kathmandu District Judge Udaya Prakash Chapagain and Lalitpur District Judge Yagya Prasad Basyal proposed to provide more authority to NPAN.
