NSC records another aftershock, Nepal earthquake death toll hits 8897

KATHMANDU: The National Seismological Centre said it recorded a light aftershock of the April 25 earthquake on Monday morning.

The tremor of local magnitude 4.3 had hit the eastern district of Dolakha at 10:48 am.

The coordinates 27.69°N, 86.20°E, show the epicentre was close to Jugu, east of the district headquarters Charikot.

The NSC had recorded a light tremor of local magnitude 4.2 in the district at 10:07 am yesterday also.

Also, a minor aftershock of ML 3.0 was recorded in the Kathmandu Valley at 7:25 pm yesterday evening.

The number of significant aftershocks of local magnitude 4.0 or above has reached 344 since April 25 till this morning.

Meanwhile, the official death toll of the devastating earthquake has reached 8897, according to the Disaster Risk Reduction Portal of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
