KATHMANDU, AUGUST 31

Nepali Congress' sister organisation Nepal Students Union organised a demonstration in front of the Chinese Embassy in Nepal this evening against China's new map.

Students protested in front of the Chinese Embassy in Nepal regarding a controversial 2023 map released by China a few days ago.

The protest was led by NSU Central Committee member Adarsha Malla.

Around 20 students carrying posters and pamphlets had planned to demonstrate and paste the posters on the wall of the embassy.

However, police were pre-informed and prevented the students from sticking the posters.

According to Binod Raj Joshi, NSU central committee member, the students chanted slogans such as 'Amend the new Chinese Map', 'Honour Nepal's Sovereignty.'

"Students had planned to protest by pasting the pamphlet on the embassy wall in relation to the China 2023 map but police were already present there. Hence, police snatched the pamphlets and banners and tore them. However, students affiliated to NSU demonstrated in front of the embassy chanting slogans at Baluwatar," CCM of NSU Binod Raj Joshi informed THT.
