LAMJUNG: The number of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infected people has been increasing for the past years, in Lamjung district.

Out of 891 persons who underwent a health checkup, 212 were found HIV-positive In the district.

Lamjung District Community Hospital is the only Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) service giving health facility in the district.

According to the ART VCT Counselor Ganesh Gurung of Lamjung District Community Hospital, as many as 100 HIV-infected patients are taking the medicine under the ART services, out of which 44 are men, 44 women, seven girls, and five boys. The hospital provides free medicine, every month, to those who require it.

He added that there has been continuous increment, year after year, in the number of patients taking the medicine through the ART Service Centre, Lamjung, which has now reached a 100.

Health Office of Lamjung has reported 12 deaths, out of which six are male and six female.
