LAMJUNG: Police in Lamjung district on Monday arrested a man on charge of raping a 12-year-old girl in Besisahar Municipaltiy-1.

The accused has been identified as 29-year-old Resham Tamang of Nuwakot district.

Tamang was arrested on the spot after he raped the mentally and physically disabled local girl on yesterday morning, according to the Deputy Superintendent of Police Samir Chandra Kharel at the Lamjung DPO.

According to the DSP, Tamang will be tried under Chapter 14 of Muluki Ain 2017 as he has already accepted the allegation .

Further investigation into the case is underway, said police.
