KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 3
The National Women Commission today presented its annual report for the fiscal 2020-21 to President Bidhya Devi Bhandari.
Commission Chairperson Kamala Kumari Parajuli presented the report to President Bhandari amidst a ceremony at the Office of the President in Shital Niwas, in accordance with Article 294 of the Constitution of Nepal.
On the occasion, President Bhandari said the NWC had celebrated a landmark achievement of Nepali women's movement ever since it was established after prolonged struggle.
She said the NWC had been working to end all sorts of gender-based discrimination and build a just and equitable society.
President Bhandari instructed the NWC to work more actively in the days ahead for protection and promotion of women's rights by containing violence against women through collaboration with other constitutional bodies. NWC Chairperson Parajuli shed light on the highlights of the annual report.
NWC members Krishna Kumari Poudel Khatiwada, Bidya Kumari Sinha, Jaya Ghimire and Sabitri Sharma, and NWC officials were present on the occasion.
