Chief Commissioner of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority Prem Kumar Rai has said that chiefs of the concerned offices are key persons in controlling corruption.
Inaugurating the new building of Surkhet-based office of CIAA yesterday, Rai said that secretaries at the ministries and chiefs of other offices should play crucial roles in ensuring good-governance and integrity.
On the occasion, he said that the CIAA had submitted its recommendations to the government for corruption control along with the reasons of corruption and anomalies but they were not implemented.
Rai said that complaints at CIAA against the local levels had increased lately while adding that other complaints being registered include from education, land management, forest and environment sectors.
The chief commissioner also suggested that frequent monitoring of the projects was needed adding that the timely completion of the projects was delayed due to poor monitoring.
He also asked the stakeholders show concerns about the protection of public and government properties.
Secretary of CIAA Toyam Raya and chief secretary of Karnali Province Government Raj Kumar Shrestha, among others, expressed their opinions on good-governance and integrity during service delivery.
The building was constructed in three years at the total cost of Rs 93.1 million.
