Okhladhunga roads in sorry state

Okhaldhunga, August 7

Roads in the Okhaldhunga headquarters area are in dilapidated condition for want of repairs and Siddicharan Municipality has yet to take concrete steps to better the situation.

The major road from Ramailodanda to Milanchowk at the headquarters has developed myriads of potholes and cracks.

Hotel Entrepreneurs’ Union Okhaldhunga Chair Thagendra Raj Rai said their repeated pleas to repair the road and manage drainage along the road had fallen on deaf ears, adding, the municipality had shown apathy towards sanitation and road repairs.

Local Yagya Bahadur Khadka said Mayor Mohan Kumar Shrestha’s pledge to accord top priority to the roads, sewage system, sanitation and drinking water during the election campaign did not materialise.

Harkapur-Okhaldhunga Road Division Office said unmanaged drainage had caused severe damage to black-topped roads. Vehicles are having a hard time plying the roads for want of repairs, as per Division Office engineer Shiv Prasad Timilsina. “Division office looks after major roads, but repairing inner roads and managing the drainage is municipality’s task.”
