Oli fires salvo against Khanal

ITAHARI: CPN-UML leader KP Sharma Oli today blamed his own party chairman for the prevalent groupism in the party.

Speaking at a press conference organised by the Sunsari chapter of Press Chautari Nepal here, Oli said, “Groupism has been flourishing as chairman Jhalanath Khanal is imposing dictatorship in the party.”

The chairman himself is involved in such practice instead of taking the party ahead by addressing the sentiment all party cadres, Oli charged. He also lamented as tendency of narrow and untimely thinking was rife in the party. “The instances of anarchy and activities against the party policy are increasing due to the chairman.”

“I hope that the party will recover its lost image soon as I myself has been working hard for it,” he said.

“The Kathmandu district committee was dissolved due to the chairman’s act of imposing dictatorship,” Oli said, “The act was nothing but a mere act of increasing the numbers of chairman’s supporters. However, the party cannot function this way anymore.”

Oli, a standing committee member of the UML, also revealed that he was not informed about the agenda of the standing committee meeting held in the party headquarters yesterday.

“There are many Maoist-sympathisers in the party in the guise of CPN-UML activists,” he said.

In another context, Oli said the parties should mend their ways in order to work for timely writing of the country’s statute and and taking the peace process to a logical conclusion.

He said that attempts were on to include the UCPN-Maoist in the government.
