Oli govt will not change, says DPM Gachhadar

BIRATNAGAR: Deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar said that the KP Sharma Oli-led government would not change now.

Speaking to journalists at Biratnagar Airport, DPM Gachhadar stressed the need of national consensus government to implement the new Constitution, resolve national problems and usher in economic progress.

He went on to say that all the parties should focused on ending the longstanding political standoff and holding local body elections.

The DPM reiterated his former stance that the big parties including the Nepali Congress must forge an agreement to resolve the contentious issues including the demarcation of provincial boundaries.

Responding to a query regarding the solution to the agitation launched by United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF), he said "It is not unusual that there are oppositions and agitations in a democratic process, but people should not be made to suffer under strikes."

Moreover, Gachhadar praised newly elected Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba's decision to remain in the oppostion.

He said that the NC should lend constructive support to the government to settle the Madhes problems.
