Oli to continue as Prime Minister; Dahal to handle party affairs

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will continue as the country's Prime Minister for the rest of government's tenure while Co-chair of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has been accorded the authority to handle for the party-affairs as the executive head of the ruling party.

In a move to end the long-standing power tussle between the party head honchos, a meeting of the NCP (NCP) held today has taken a decision to this effect.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's newly appointed press advisor Surya Thapa said that the party will continue its work under the joint leadership of both the chairpersons, Oli and Dahal.

Thapa, however, added that being the Prime Minister, Oli will focus on the government while Dahal will be more responsible for the party-related matters.

Meanwhile, after weeks of uncertainty amid reports of a possible cabinet reshuffle, the government today finally decided to bid farewell to half a dozen ministers while inducting new ones in their stead.
