CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that talks on development and human rights would fade given that famine and poverty exist in the country.

At a programme organised here today on 72nd birth anniversary of late politician Madan Bhandari, Oli argued that he advanced the idea of Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali when he was the PM considering that no one has to starve, and die for lack of treatment.

Oli stated that the idea of such national commitment germinated from the imitation of people's multiparty democracy was propounded by Bhandari.

"We back complete democracy along with equality and social justice," Oli stated.

The former PM also asked the party cadres to advance for the social transformation despite some challenges ahead.

On the occasion, Oli said that Nepal's political parties and people should work hard to make this nation prosperous adding that Nepal is a land of knowledge.
