Oli urges NC to join govt
Bhaktapur, January 15:
CPN-UML politburo member KP Sharma Oli today said all the political parties should go hand in hand to pave a right way for the nation.
Speaking at a function organised to mark the fourth anniversary of the Samaya Samaj, vernacular weekly published from Bhaktapur, he said consensus and coordination were the only options for a political outlet to the existing crisis. He also urged the Nepali Congress to join the government to solve the current problems.
Oli suggested the ruling Unified CPN-Maoist to be serious and responsible political party instead of issuing threats to seize power through revolt. “The government should properly handle the transitional phase and draft a new constitution to ensure the people’s rights,” he added.
He also blamed the government for not taking action against those who had been attacking the media and mediapersons. “The government is promoting impunity as it has not actions against any of the people that attacked the media even though the government knows the criminals well,” he said.
Ganesh Bahadur Khatri, president of the Samaya Samaj, Narayan Kilambu, president of Federation of Nepali Journalists, Bhaktapur Chapter, and editor of Samaya Samaj Mani Ram Lamichhane vowed to expand the paper’s reach.
