NC-D’s campaign

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (Democratic) on Tuesday decided to depute its central leaders to various districts to revitalise the party’s rank and file. While Bal Bahadur KC, Purna Bahadur Khadka, Bal Krishna Khand and Amar Raj Kaini will be sent to the Lumbini, Seti, Narayani and Dhaulagiri zones respectively, leaders like Dip Kumar Upadhayay, Minendra Rijal, Prakash Sharan Mahat, Jip Tsering Lama and Uma Adhikari will be sent to Mahakali, Mechi, Gandaki, Karnali and Janakpur zones respectively. Similarly, party leaders Narayan Prasad Saud, Dina Upadhayay, Indra Bahadur Gurung, Bhisma Raj Angdambe and Umakant Chaudhari will be deputed to the Rapti, Bagmati, Sagarmatha, Koshi and the Bheri zones respectively, a statement issued here by the party said on Tuesday. — HNS

Deuba offers prayers

New Delhi: Former prime minster Sher Bahadur Deuba, wishing early recovery of PM Girija Prasad Koirala as well as long lasting peace and stability in Nepal, offered prayers at Tirupati Balaji Mandir, a famous temple in south India on Tuesday. Deuba, who arrived on 10-day long visit to India on the invitation of general secretary of Nationalist Congress Party, DP Tripathi, last Thursday, is in Chennai. He would arrive in New Delhi on Wednesday and meet Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Congress leader Sonia Gandhi. — HNS

DEO room padlocked

BARA: Activists of the Nepal Tarun Dal and Nepal Students’ Union affiliated to the Nepali Congress on Tuesday padlocked the room of the District Education Officer (DEO) for over two hours. A group of students led by the chairperson of the Nepal Tarun Dal (Bara), Lukesh Singh, were accusing DEO Durga Prasad Shrestha of performing official work from his house. The room was unlocked following an agreement between the DDC, Bara, president of the NC (Bara), Lal Babu Singh and Shrestha, Lukesh Singh said. — HNS
