Two girls swept away

GAIGHAT: Two girls of Rasuwaghat village have gone missing after they were swept away by the Sunkoshi river on Monday, eyewitnesses said. Babita, 13, daughter of Gopal Rai and Manora, 16, daughter of Bhakta Bahadur Hamal, had gone to the river to fetch water. The villagers are searching for them, locals said. — HNS

Nine girls rescued

KATHMANDU: Maiti Nepal and Stop Delhi on Sunday rescued nine Nepali girls from different brothels in New Delhi. According to a press release issued by Maiti Nepal, the rescued girls have been rehabilitated at Maiti Nepal. All rescued children are under the age of 18. — HNS

Ninu bags award

POKHARA: Progressive litterateur, Ninu Chapagain, has been awarded this year’s Gokul Literature Award. The Gandaki Sahitya Sangam provides the award in every two years. The award was handed over to Chapagain by the chairperson of Sangam Ghana Shyam Dhakal, at a function organised to mark the Gokul Day on Monday. The award, consisting of Rs 25,000 and a felicitation letter, was funded in the name of late progressive litterateur Gokul Joshi. — HNS
