NC cadre abducted
RAUTAHAT: Two Maoist cadres abducted Devi Lal Mahato, an activist of Nepali Congress, from Phattepur tole of Bagahi VDC in Rautahat, on Monday morning. Mahato, a resident of Prempur Gonahi was returning to his house from Garuda bazaar when Maoists abducted him, eyewitnesses said. Mahato’s daughter’s marriage was scheduled for May 11. Keshav Prasad Adhikari, SP at the District Police Office, said the investigation is underway. — HNS

Aid for martyr’s kin
BARA: A meeting of Nijgarh VDC on Sunday decided to provide all kind of recommendations free of cost to family members of martyr Hira Lal gautam killed during the democratic movement. According to Arbinda Raut, secretary of the VDC, the meeting also decided to provide Rs 4,000 annually (Rs 1,000 each for each member) for his family until 10 years. The VDC also gave Rs 1,000 each to Bishal Lama and Sudarshan Aryal who were injured during a demonstration. — HNS
Robbery in Pokhara
POKHARA: Over Rs 128,000 in cash and other valuables of two tourists were stolen from a room of the Ganga Hotel at Lakeside, Pokhara, on Sunday night, the District Police Office (DPO), Kaski, said. According to the DPO, pound sterling 1,000, NRs 700, a video camera, a mobile set, among other goods, belonging to Magdalena Kanova of the Czech Republic and pound sterling 700, NRs 15,000, and other goods belonging to Saral Chhetri, were stolen. — HNS
