Rs 22m Indian aid
KATHMANDU: Two MoUs were signed on Friday between the Embassy of India, the District Development Committees (DDCs) of Makwanpur and Rupandehi and Makwanpur Multiple Campus and Shree Ram Naresh Yadav Secondary School, Rupandehi, for the construction of college and library for Makwanpur Campus and computer and library block, the Indian embassy said in a press release on Friday. The government of India will provide grant assistance of Rs 20.3 million for the construction of the campus building and library for the Makwanpur Campus, the release said, adding that Rs 2 million will be provided to the Ram Naresh School for the construction of computer and library block. — HNS
COAS meets King
POKHARA: Chief of the Army Staff Pyar Jung Thapa, IGP of the Armed Police Forces Sahabir Thapa, IGP of the Nepal Police Shyam Bhakta Thapa and IGP of the National Investigation Department Devi Ram Sharma met King Gyanendra at the Ratna Mandir in Pokhara on Friday, security sources said. Dacoits kill villager
Mahottari: A villager was killed and eight injured when they clashed with a group of dacoits at Gowaraiya of Raghunathpur VDC-5 in Mahottari district on Thursday night. Ram Dayal Mandal (45) of the VDC was killed when the dacoits opened fire after the villagers protested their looting spree, police said. —HNS
400 houses gutted
RAJBIRAJ: Some 400 houses belonging to 135 families were gutted in a fire at Mahadewa VDC of Saptari district, on Thursday night. Property worth Rs 20 million has been estimated to have been gutted. — HNS
