Indian help to varsity

BIRATNAGAR: Deputy Chief of Mission of the Indian Embassy to Nepal, VP Haran, on Sunday handed over lab equipment worth Rs 30 million to the Purbanchal University School of Engineering and Technology. Haran said the assistance would continue in the future. Vice chancellor of the university Prof Jagat Bahadur KC said the assistance would help students. — HNS

Property looted

RAUTAHAT: About a dozen robbers on Sunday night looted cash and property worth Rs 1.5 lakh from three houses in Basantapur VDC-8 belonging to Gyani Shah, Dwarika Das and Sitaram. Manoj Paswan, 22, was hurt after being shot at by the dacoits during the retaliation.

Bear mauls one

DIPAYAL: A local of Baanjhkakani VDC-3, Bam Bahadur Khadka, 22, was mauled to death by a bear near his house on Sunday. He died on the spot, local authorities said. The locals are terrified after the attack. — HNS
