RAJBIRAJ: The Maoists killed one Shambhu Chaudhary in Jagatpur of Saptari district on Wednesday for raping a woman, locals said, adding the body was found at the banks of Bhauli River on Thursday. — HNS

Police arrest two

BARA: The police arrested the secretary of Tokani VDC of Rampur, Hajrat Miyan, and Ashok Kumar Yadav on the charge of committing fraud. Miyan and Yadav had helped Paramanda Shah of Birgunj submetropolis-13 lay claim over plots of land belonging to Ratanlal Sedhain.

Call to ban landmines

DAMAULI: Speakers on Wednesday demanded ban on production, transfer, stockpiling, and use of landmine. Speaking at the talk programme on ‘Landmine, its effects, and solution’, a host of speakers, including the chief of the Samarsur Battalion, Anil Khadka, the DSP Devi Lal Khanal among others sought ban on landmine. — RSS

Scholarship for Dalits
