US to help Nepal’
Biratnagar: The US envoy to Nep-al, James F Moriarty, has said the US is determined to stay involved to help Nepal become a peaceful, prospero-us and democratic country. Speaking at the 29th installation ceremony of the new Board of Directors for the Rotary Club of Biratnagar and the charter presentation of the Rotary Cl-ub of Biratnagar Downtown, he said the only way toward all those objecti-ves is reconciliation between legitim-ate political forces and the palace. —HNS
Free abductees: NHRC
KATHMANDU: The National Human Rights Commission on Friday, urged the Maoists to free Janak Gurung of Kalanti Bhumidanda VDC, Kavrepal-anchowk, and Ashok Lama of Devichaur VDC, Lalitpur, and let Yagya Bahadur Basnet and Tahal Bahadur Karki, of Deurali VDC (Ramechhap), who were displaced from the village as they failed to provide donations to the Maoists, return home. — HNS
Typhoid outbreak
Tanahun: There has been a fever and typhoid outbreak at Byas municipality and surrounding VDCs. “Arou-nd 15 to 20 patients have been admitted at Damauli hospital,” said Dr Ke-dar Sentury. Due to lack of blood testing facilities, they are not able to carry out treatment properly. Though three doctors are posted at the hospital, only Dr Sentury is on duty now. —HNS
