Kathmandu: The government has empowered the Supreme Court to hear appeals against the decisions taken by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA). The notice to this effect was issued in Nepal Gazette on Monday in accordance with Section 34 (1) of CIAA Act 1991. — HNS

Army man killed

JANAKPURDHAM: Army man Narayan Nagarkoti, 20, was killed while trying to clear an obstruction placed by the Maoists on a bridge in Naktajhik VDC-1, Dhanusha on Tuesday. Another army man Pradip Gurung was critically injured. — HNS
