Customs offices shut

Biratnagar: Revenue collection has nosedived after most of the customs offices in the district of Saptari were closed down due to insecurity. The offices were closed down after the Maoists set the Rajbiraj Customs Office in Belahi on fire on Wednesday. — HNS

1 killed, 19 hurt in mishap

TANAHUN: One person was killed and 19 were injured on Saturday morning when a bus veered off the Prithvi Highway sector at Khairinitar VDC-7 and plunged into the Myagdi river. The deceased has been identified as Mankumari Acharya (50), a resident of Dhachok VDC, Kaski district. — HNS

Call to fight censorship

Blast in school

NAWALPARASI: Two suspected Maoists detonated a bomb at a school at Gadakot of Nawalparsi district on Friday. The duo detonated the bomb inside the Accounts Section of the Namuna Boarding School, Binod Karki, the principal of the school, said. — HNS

Bus crushes one

DHANKUTA: One person died when a bus ran over him in Kuwapani, Dhankuta, on Saturday. Rajesh Shrestha, a resident of Hukali Tol in Dhankuta municipality-7, died on the spot when the bus with registration number Na 2 Kha hit him. — HNS

Girl rescued

MAHENDRANAGAR: Security personnel have rescued a 20-year-old girl from Maoists’ captivity in Baitada of Daili VDC-7 and handed her over to her family. Two Maoists had abducted Rupa Kumari Serla, of Brhamdev, on Monday. She was rescued from Baitada of Daili VDC-7 and handed over to her father Chetram Serla in the presence of journalists and rights activists. — HNS
