RPP politics discussed

Kathmandu: Nine Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) leaders on Monday discussed the current party politics and ways of thrashing out differences between the party leadership and its workers. In a meeting held at Kundaline Club in Maharajgunj, the disgruntled section of the CWC emphasised on taking a “clear stance” on the Royal takeover. “We discussed on ending the ‘dictatorial’ system in the party,” a leader said. The meeting will continue on Wednesday with “more CWC members.” — HNS

Bhutan refugees’ protest

DAMAK: Bhutanese refugees on Monday organised a sit-in at the local office of the UNHCR, demanding a review of the slash of the relief fund. Protestors from seven refugee camps of Jhapa and Morang handed a memorandum to UNHCR representatives after half an hour sit-in. — HNS

18 teams to climb Everest

Kathmandu: The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has given permits to 18 expedition teams to scale Mt Everest. “The number of teams which are attempting to scale the highest peak this year are definitely more than last year and we expect more teams to seek permits during April and May,” said Shankar Prasad Pandey, the joint-secretary at the Tourism Ministry and chief of Tourism Industry Division. — HNS

Fire claims three-year-old

NAWALPARASI: Sandesh, 3, the son of Nubhakur Tiwari of Chhipchhipe in Shiva Mandir VDC 9 was burnt to death when fire engulfed his house on Monday afternoon. The house was made of thatched-roof. — HNS
