Ambulance skids off road
Phidim: One elderly person was killed and four others injured when an ambulance plunged down from the road on Monday near Panchathar, the headquarters of Phidim district. Krishna Prasad Bhattarai, 65, of Baigundhara VDC-2 of Jhapa district died on the spot while Kchitiz Gurung, 12, of Phungling VDC-3 of Taplejung district, Gopal Karki, 54, of Pathari VDC-9 including ambulance driver Tara Baral are said to be seriously injured. — HNS
One killed in accident
LAHAN: A tractor crushed to death a man at Itari Parsahi village development committee ward number three of the district of Siraha on Monday. Police Inspector Govinda Puri of the Area Police Office, Mirchaiya, said the tractor crushed the head of Raj Kumar Mandal who had fallen while trying to get aboard the vehicle. Mandal died on the spot. — HNS
Man awaits help
BIRATNAGAR: The health condition of one Harka Bahadur Subedi has deteriorated after the Koshi Zonal Hospital discharged on Sunday after he ran out of money. Subedi, a resident of Sabla VDC-7, Terhathum, is suffering from failure of both kidneys and had come to Biratnagar with Rs 6,000 which he managed to collect after selling a pair of oxen. The doctors had recommended him to go to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences for treatment
but he has no money to continue treatment. — HNS
Relief for fire victims
SIRAHA: Nepal Red Cross Society, Siraha branch has distributed relief materials to 29 fire victim families of Silorwa Pachhwari VDC-3 Larikihatol. On Monday afternoon fire destroyed 75 straw houses belonging to the 29 families. The chairman of NRCS, Siraha, distributed relief materials including sarees, clothes and utensils. Likewise, local social worker, Bhagirath Agrawal distributed food items to the fire victims. — RSS
3 teachers teach 2 kids
ILAM: There are three teachers to teach just two students at the Bhanubhakta Primary School at Pashupatinagar VDC-5 of Ilam district, it is reported. The school located at a village bordering India had 14 students in the beginning of the academic year but all except two of them went to join schools in India, a teacher Hem Raj Karki said. The students left the school because classes are conducted in English medium in Indian schools and the blockades and strikes recurrently disturb the classes here, he said. — RSS
