Hailstorm damages crops
LEKHNATH: A heavy hailstorm on Saturday afternoon damaged vegetable and fruit cultivation in the Lekhnath municipality of Kaski district. The 15-minute-long hailstorm damaged tomatoes, cauliflower, cabbage and other vegetables and the wheat crop, it is reported. Hailstones weighed as much as 300 gram, a local resident Lok Bahadur Tamrakar said. — RSS
Donation to war-hit kids
KAPILVASTU: DIG Ramesh Kumar Shrestha has donated Rs 11,111 to conflict-hit children through a Children’s Home at Taulihawa operated by the Nepal Children’s Organisation, Kapilvastu. The home has been providing education and care to children orphaned in the Maoist conflict. The home houses 67 children from the mid and western development regions. — RSS
Villagers kill dacoit
MAHOTTARI: A dacoit was killed in Parsa Dewad of Mahottari district on Friday when villagers retaliated a gang’s looting spree. The dead dacoit has been identified as Ramsagar Khatwe of Parsa Dewad ward number five, the district police office, Mahottari, said. A gang of 10-12 dacoits on Thursday looted ornaments and cash worth Rs 250,000 from the house of Ram Kishor Yadav at ward number four of the VDC and thrashed his brother. — RSS
Water tank bombed
DIPAYAL: Maoists on Thursday destroyed a water tank at ward number seven of the Kalena village development committee of Doti district causing water scarcity in the area. We have to spend 2-3 hours to collect water at a time when we should have been preparing for the SLC exams said a student, Hari Krishna Tamrakar. Works are underway to repair the water tank, said Chief District Officer Ganesh Prasad Acharya. — RSS
