Water shortage in Jumla

NEPALGUNJ: An acute shortage of water has occurred in Khalanga, the district headquarter of Jumla, after the Maoists cut the drinking water pipelines on Thursday. Around 10,000 locals are now deprived of water. The incident has also affected the RNA barrack. The RNA’s mid-western regional divisional headquarters has confirmed the incident. — HNS

Maoists blast DEO office

NEPALGUNJ: The District Education Office (DEO) was damaged after the Maoists detonated a bomb on its premise at Surkhet Road, in Nepalgunj, on Thursday night. The nearby office of Janak Educational Materials and a vehicle was also damaged. Thirty-two window panes of the building of Janak Educational Materials have been broken. The District Police Office and RNA’s mid-western regional divisional headquarters have confirmed the incident. — HNS

Scientific manpower

KATHMANDU: The total manpower in the field of science and technology in Nepal is 26,000. A RONAST study shows that 10,000 are engineers followed by 5,100 doctors, 4,500 in natural science, 2,600 in agriculture, 2000 in biology, 800 in forestry and 1,000 in other sectors. — HNS
