Kathmandu: Chief Justice Hari Prasad Sharma on Thursday left for Australia, to take part in the 11th conference of Chief Justices of Asia and Pacific countries to be held from March 20 to 24. Sharma’s wife Nima Kumari and SC spokesperson Dr Ram Krishna Timalsena are accompanying him. —HNS

Five students held

DHANGADHI: Police on Thursday arrested five students for staging demonstration in Dhangadhi. The Nepal Student’s Union-Democratic district president Pushpa Kumar Shahi, ANNFSU central member Yagya Dhungana, Nepal Students’ Union district secretary Purna Kunwar, Nepal Students’ Union campus unit committee president Laxman Shahi and Krishna Rawal were arrested by the police at the LH chowk. — HNS

Joint team to check crime

RAUTAHAT: The joint meeting of the security personnel of Nepal-India border area has decided to coordinate efforts to check criminal activities on the border. The meeting held on Wednesday at Bairganiya agreed to beef up security to discourage criminal activities on the border, CDO said. — HNS

Blue book rule eased

Pokhara: Nine months after making it mandatory for the vehicle owners and drivers in Pokhara to carry blue books while using their vehicles, the traffic police office here has eased the rule. According to the new rule the vehicle owners and drivers can carry with them a duly attested photocopy of the blue book instead of the original one, reducing the risk of losing it. —HNS

Court order to detain Ojha

SUNSARI: The Sunsari District Court has passed out an order to detain singer Prakash Ojha arrested on charge of child molestation and sex abuse few weeks ago for further investigation. The verdict was issued by a single bench of district judge Phanindra Sharma. — RSS
