Two leopard cubs die

BARA: Two leopard cubs died in the Parsa Conservation Centre (PCC) on Monday. The District Forest Office (DFO), Parsa, had handed over the cubs to the PCC. The cubs were unhealthy, said Narendra Karki, programme officer at the buffer zone of the PCC. — HNS

Order on Chaturvedi case

KATHMANDU: The special court on Monday directed several district courts, including the Kathmandu District Court, Parsha District Court, and the Makawanpur District Court, to implement its verdict that convicted ex-chief of the Royal Nepal Airlines Corporation, Ramagya Prasad Chaturvedi. Sending its judgment, the Special Court told the district courts to implement the verdict immediately if the defendant did not appeal to the Supreme Court under the existing law. Responding to a corruption case filed by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, the special court had slapped a two-year jail term and imposed about Rs 49.3 million on Chaturvedi. — HNS

NHRC’s call to Maoists

Kathmandu: Responding to complaints filed by the people displaced by the Maoists, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has urged the Maoists to immediately release those under their captivity and to allow the displaced families and individuals to return to their houses. The family members of former parliamentarian Dhrubraj Lamsal, who were displaced after the Maoists seized their house in Syangja, had filed a complaint at the NHRC on January 27. The family members of Minadevi Tiwari, whose house in Nawalparasi was captured by the Maoists, had filed a similar complaint at the NHRC on March 7. —HNS

Civic charter made public

DHADING: A meeting of the district implementation committee (DIC) held under the coordination of CDO of Dhadhing, Jeewan Prasad Walli, made the civic charter-2061 public on Monday. According to the charter, which will be effective from Tuesday, all the civil servants must wear ID cards during office hours. — HNS
