Indian grant for road
KATHMANDU: India has sanctioned Rs 22.5 million to macadamise 9 km of the Gandhi-Manmohan Marg in Morang, according to the Indian embassy. The foundation stone was laid on Friday at Rangeli by Indian ambassador to Nepal, Shiv Shankar Mukherjee, for Phase II of the road project.— HNS
Dacoits loot 17 houses
RAUTAHAT: A gang of dacoits looted property worth Rs 900,000 from 17 households in Bisunpurva Manpur VDC on Thursday. According to the District Police Office, 15-20 armed dacoits looted 17 households in Bisunpurva Manpur VDC at around 11:30 pm. They also took a 12-bore shotgun belonging to Bhugal Roy Yadav.— HNS
Arrest warrant for leaders
TANAHUN: Three political leaders staging demonstration in Damauli bazaar, have been issued arrest warrants for a period of three months. General convention member of Nepali Congress, Krishna Gautam, district president of Nepali Congress (Democratic), Dhruv Wagle and NCP (UML) central advisory member Shesh Mani Acharya were served the warrants, officials said.— HNS
Diarrhoea kills kid
Charikot: An infant died and hundreds of other persons are affected by diarrhoea and fever that has spread in Lapilang VDC of Dolakha district. Eighteen-month-old Dipesh Khadka, son of Lal Bahadur Khadka of Lapilang VDC-2, died of diarrhoea.— HNS
