Gang loots buses, trucks

NARAYANGADH: An armed gang of about 20 persons looted cash and valuables worth over two lakh rupees from three Dang-bound buses and two trucks on the Dashdhunga road at Kabilas VDC in Chitwan on Friday night. The gang fled after staffers of other trucks started shouting, Sudarshan Raj Pandey, one of the robbed passengers and reporter of the Birgunj-based Uthan weekly, told this daily. The district police office, Chitwan, confirmed the incident.

Body found

SARLAHI: The body of Dil Kumar Pokharel, a security guard of the Sagarnath Forest Development Project, Sarlahi, was recovered on Friday. As there are cuts of sharp weapon on his neck, cheeks and chest, he might have been assualted, the police said. Two suspects have been arrested, the police said, adding that they are probing the case. — RSS

Businessman shot at

BUTWAL: Central member of the Nepal Intellectuals’ Council and businessman, Brij Man Shrestha, was hurt when two Maoists shot at him in Amarpath on Friday, the police said. Shrestha is undergoing treatment at the Lumbini Zonal Hospital. — RSS
