Border meet to curb terror:
Biratnagar: A meeting in Bihar state of Nepali and Indian security officials on border crime, has decided to curb terrorism in border areas. The meeting was held with a focus on the coming February 15 Bihar legislative assembly elections. “We have agreed to curb crime and violence in the border areas,” Morang district police superintendent Pratap Singh Thapa said. He added such meetings would be continued in the future as well. — HNS
Maoists kill two youths:
BIRATNAGAR: The Maoists killed two youths in Morang and Jhapa on the charge of spying against them. While Netra Bahadur Basnyat, a resident of Tetariya VDC-1 of Morang district, was gunned down on Sunday night, Bimala Pathak of Sarnamati VDC of Jhapa was gunned down on Monday. — HNS
Bird fest begins tomorrow:
BIRATNAGAR: The fifth National Kosi Tappu Bird Festival will be held for four days from Wednesday, it was informed at a press conference on Monday. Speaking at the conference, organising committee coordinator Pushpa Bhattarai said the preparation for the festival is complete. — HNS
34 forest staffers freed:
BARA: Maoists on Sunday released 34 of the 36 staffers of the District Forest Office, Bara, whom they had abducted on Saturday on the charge of ‘smuggling’ timber from the Halkhoriya Daha forest area of Amalekhgunj. — HNS
14th century statue found:
RAJBIRAJ: Workers digging land to
construct a temple of Mananth Baba at Ghoddahanadi of Boriya VDC-1 found a statue dating back to the 14th century on Saturday. — HNS
Body of missing found:
NARAYANGADH: The body of one of the three persons, who had been missing after a boat capsized in the Narayani river last week, was found on Monday. A local said the body of Pandav Pathak, of Mangalpur-3, was found near the site of the mishap. — HNS
