MJF office padlocked

RAUTAHAT: Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum (MJF) cadres padlocked the party’s Gaur office on Tuesday, accusing the party’s Gaur municipality representative Gauri Shankar Yadav of fund embezzlement. The municipality had allocated Rs 4.9 million to the party for developmental activities, however, Yadav used Rs 2.1 million for his personal purpose, the MJF cadres claimed. — HNS

Injured rhino at risk

KATHMANDU: A joint team of Nepali Army and Chitwan National Park has started keeping round-the-clock vigil at an adult rhino, which sustained serious injuries last Thursday. The team of six army men and four national park officials is following the rhino to ensure its safety. Poachers had shot the male rhino last week. — HNS

Man kills brother

DHULIKHREL: Police have arrested Dipak Thakuri of Jyamdi VDC-3 of Kavre on Tuesday on the charge of killing his younger brother on Monday evening. The police said Dipak killed his brother Ramesh by slitting his throat following a dispute over the family’s land. Maiya Thakuri, the mother of the siblings, was injured while trying to save Ramesh. — HNS

Rhino attacks tourist

CHITWAN: A tourist was injured when a rhino attacked him near Dudhaura Khola of Chitwan on Tuesday. The tourist has been identified as Vyanhoi Land and he is being treated in Bharatpur. — HNS

Deuba’s warning

DADELDHURA: Former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Tuesday said the country was likely to turn into a failed state due to the anarchy and dictatorial behave of the Maoists. He was speaking at a press meet in Dadeldhura. Deuba also ruled out any chance of the NC joining the government. — HNS
