Weekly aircraft checks

KATHMANDU: Following the six-point preliminary report on the Yeti Airlines crash, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has started conducting weekly aircraft parameter check. “CAAN now inspects two aircraft a week to ensure safety,” said Ratish Chandra Lal Suman, director of Air Safety at CAAN. A Gorkha Airlines’ aircraft was grounded for a day last week because of technical problems with the Flight Data Recorder, but it is back in operation. — HNS

New TU board members

KATHMANDU: King Gyanendra, on the recommendations of the TU Executive Council, appointed persons from the education sector in the TU Board. A press release issued by the Information Section of TU states that member of the Upper House, Ranga Nath Joshi, RONAST vice-chancellor professor Dr Dayananda Bajracharya, Bal Bahadur KC from the Education Department, professor Dr Shankar Raj Pant from the Mathemantics Department were appointed on Thursday. Narayan Joshi from Dhankuta Multiple Campus was also appointed. — HNS
