Protest over price rise

KAVRE: Women Awareness Centre Nepal organised a rally to protest the spiralling price hike of essentials in Banepa on Sunday. The rally started from Pulbazaar, went through different thoroughfares of the city, and converged into a corner meet in Chardobatochowk. They claimed that they could not celebrate Teej festival due to the skyrocketing price of essentials and artificial shortage. They demanded the government to control the price hike at the earliest. Prativa Subedi, WACN chairperson, said that businesses were hiking price at their own mercy and accused the government of failing to take action. “The skyrocketing price of goods has made us unable to celebrate the Teej festival,” she said. — HNS
