RUPANDEHI: Maoists set fire to a microbus (Na 2 Kha 2559) at Driver tole around 5.15 pm on Friday. The bus, that was enroute to Butwal from Bhairahawa, was completely destroyed in the fire. — HNS

Teacher awaits Samaritan

CHITWAN: A teacher at the Rastriya Prathamik Bidhyalaya Padam Bahadur Gurung, 30, of Aldanda of Darechowk VDC-6 in Chitwan, who is suffering from heart ailment is waiting for a good Samaritan to help him undergo treatment. Gurung whose heart problem began some five months ago had gone to Shaheed Gangalal Hospital in Kathmandu but returned without treatment because of lack of money for replacing his heart valvue which the doctors said would cost about Rs 200,000. — HNS

Vaccines in short supply

BHOJPUR: Lack of BCG vaccines in Bhojpur district has hit the new born babies hard. The Bhojpur Hospital has run out of the stock of the vaccine which is supposed to be administered to infants under one month old, and the infants brought to the hospital for such vaccine are being returned back, says Dr Surendra Prasad Chaurasiya of the hospital. It is reported that chances of getting the vaccines immediately in the district is still remote. — RSS

Man killed in accident

URLABARI: An unidentified man of around 45 years died on Wednesday night after he was hit by a speeding vehicle at Krishna Mandir chowk of Damak municipality on the Mahendra Highway. The vehicle and its driver is yet to be traced. The body was found with the head totally crushed, the area police office Urlabari said. — RSS

Kidnapped boy rescued

INARUWA: A three-year-old boy kidnapped by dacoits and taken to India has been successfully rescued by police. Abhishek Nandi, son of Ujjwal Nandi was abducted from his house in Bhutaha-5 on February 27. According to area police office, Bhantabari, the child was rescued at the joint initiative of Nepal Police, Indian Police and local mukhias. A ransom of Rs 300,000 had been demanded for release of the child but no ransom had to be paid. The Indian police has arrested one Indian national Sajibul Sheikh in connection to the case. — RSS

Tusker menace

BHADRAPUR: Four wild elephants have destroyed seven houses and food grains of thousands of rupees in Bahundangi village development committee in the district. The elephants which came from Telpani community forest destroyed the house of Lal Bahadur Luhar, Shreeman Mijhar, Dil Bahadur Luhar, Abichandra Bika, Dil B Karki, Purna B Darji and Janga B Subba. — RSS

Meet against corruption

POKHARA: Corrupt persons should be boycotted from the society to end corruption in the country, participants of a seminar organised here said. Law should be implemented effectively to end such anomalies in the country, they said while addressing a programme organised by the Rastriya Satarkata Kendra. Judge of the Appellate Court Pokhara Madhav Raj Thapa said the employees should fulfill the responsibility effectively. — RSS

Wind destroys houses

BAJURA: Wind accompanied by rain on March 7 caused damage to 70 per cent houses in the eastern part of Bajura district. The wind blew off roofs of most of the houses mainly in Sapata, Wai, Jukot and neighbouring VDCs of the district, according to local Mohan Lal Rokaya. A unidentified 28-year girl fainted when an object fell on her head during the strom. She is undergoing treatment at the district hospital. — RSS
