Typhoid cases surge

LAMJUNG: Cases of typhoid, fever and influenza have been increasing in Lamjung, overunning hospital beds in the district. The only community hospital in the district headquarters, Beshisahar, has fallen short of beds. As many as 60 patients have been admitted in the 50-bedded hospital. Dasharath Dhital, liaison officer at the hospital, said most patients had caught typhoid. The inflow of patients has grown three-fold in the hospital. Patients are pouring in also from Gorkha, Tanahun and Manang villages. — HNS

Ananta warns of stir

Surkhet: Standing committee member of UCPN-Maoists and incharge of PLA combatants Barsha Man Pun ''Ananta'' on Wednesday warned of protest if the government failed to rehabilitate unqualified PLA combatants before Tihar. UNMIN had declared 4,008 PLA as unqualified during the verification.
