Stung woman dies
MYAGDI: A woman was killed following hornet sting in Myagdi's Rum Village Development Committee on Thursday. Gam Maya Gharti, 57, a resident of Syalunge in the VDC, was stung several times while collecting firewood, neighbours said. Critically injured Gharti died in course of treatment at a local clinic, Diwakar Subedi, a local said. — HNS
Deplorable roads
SANKHUWASABHA: Porters have been supplying essentials to Khandbari district headquarters after incessant rain brought to a halt transportation on the 13-kilometre stretch of Khandbari-Tumlingtar route,
locals said. "Goods supplied to Sabhakhola, border of Kharang-8
and Khandbari-12, in tractors are ferried in boats and then taken to the district headquarters," said Poshraj Baral. The road has been in a deplorable condition for long, however, the authorities remained unconcerned about it, businessmen lamented. The obstruction of the road has been costing an extra Rs 4 per kg for transportation. The cost of the essentials hence has gone up in recent days, Raj Kumar Shrestha, reported. — HNS
Students injured
DHADING: Twenty-five students were injured when the bus they were traveling in overturned at a place called Bhaduwar in Dhading district early this morning. The students were returning after attending the 21st district convention of All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU). The bus was heading towards Dhading Besi from local Khari. Forty students were on board the bus at the time of the accident. Ten students who received severe injuries in the accident are undergoing treatment at Dhading Hospital and at the Sahid Memorial Hospital. — RSS
