Riot breaks out at jail
Jhapa: Tension flared today in Jhapa district prison, following a dispute among the guards and the jailbirds. Seven prisoners and detainees were detained in the melee. source said, adding, they would be transferred after some days.Dinanath Lamsal, jail chief said, chaukidar Bishweshwor Rajbanshi, deputy chaukidars Surya Narayan Rajbanshi and Arjun Tamang, prisoners Pradip Rai, Chandan Thapa, Subash Neupane and Sanubabu Rajbanshi were detained by the police. — HNS
2 killed, 3 injured
RAMECHHAP: Two persons were killed and three others injured when a house collapsed at Hulakdanda of Bhulwajor-4 in Ramechhap district on Saturday night. Sukmaya Shahi, 68 and neighbour Niraj Shahi, 11 was killed when house of Jaya Bahadur Shahi was collapsed, Ramechhap District Police Office said. House owner Jaya Bahadur, his two year-old grandson Saroj and neighbour Chinmaya were injured in the incident. The injured are undergoing treatment in Manthali based District Hospital, police said. — HNS
100 youths swindled
Itahari: Owners of Public Media Zone, a training institute related to Media, fled after collecting hundreds of thousands of rupees from over one hundred youths of the eastern region. Victims informed that Bijaya Poudel and Roshan Karki collected money from their offices at Itahari and Inaruwa of Sunsari, Biratnagar of Morang, Jhapa of Damak promising the youths with quick jobs after the completion of the training. The training included, anchoring; marketing; and Radio Technician. Organising a press meet at the Youth Reporters Group in Itahari, the victims lamented that Bijaya Poudel who had identified himself a journalist of Kantipur daily fled the scene after collecting 10,200 rupees from each youth. — HNS
