Senior citizen killed

PALPA: A senior citizen died when a bus ran over him at Charchare in Mashyam VDC of Palpa on Wednesday. Ghambhir Singh Raskoti, 83, of Masyam-4 died on the spot after the bus ran over him while he was getting off the bus, the police said. Locals took the bus under control and obstructed the Siddhartha Highway after the incident, demanding reasonable compensation for the deceased’s family. Bus driver has been arrested. — HNS

Four injured in fire

BARA: Four persons were hurt while trying to douse a fire that broke out in Triveni Textile Industry at Pipraha on Wednesday. Rampukar Chaudhari, Min Bahadur Paswan, Bikram Mahato and Shiva Kumar Saroj were injured in the incident. Chaudhari, who was critically injured, is undergoing treatment Narayani Sub-regional Hospital. The fire was controlled with the help of fire fighters from Birgunj and Kalaiya. The industry claimed a loss of Rs 35 lakh. — HNS
