Rawal quits AISC
KATHMANDU: CPN-UML leader Bhim Rawal has resigned from the Army Integration Special Committee. Rawal submitted his resignation to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on Monday. The government, on January 7, formed the seven-member committee led by PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal. Home Minister Bam Dev Gautam is another UML member of the committee. The committee has held only two meetings after its formation. — HNS
Eastern region stir-hit
Phidim: The three-day bandh called by the Limbuwan Rastriya Manch (LRM) affected normal life in nine districts in the eastern Nepal today, the first day of the bandh. The LRM has called the bandh in Taplejung, Panchthar, Terhathum, Ilam, Jhapa, Sunsari, Morang, Dhankuta and Sankhuwasabha with a view to disrupting the process of collection of public opinions on future constitution by the CA teams. Issuing a press release, the LRM said it had declared the region as an Autonomous Limbuwan State and that it would not allow the CA members to collect people’s opinions from the districts. — HNS
NSU cadres thrashed
RAMECHHAP: ANNISU-R and YCL cadres thrashed NSU supporters who had gone to Manthali Multiple Campus for admission on Tuesday. Dhruba Chaulagain, district chairman of NSU, and few others were injured in the incident. The ANNISU-R claimed five of its cadres were also injured in the incident. The injured are undergoing treatment at Tamakoshi Cooperative Hospital in Manthali. — HNS
Man found dead
MAHOTTARI: The body of Mahabir Yadav, 55, a resident of Sitapur Bhangaha VDC-9 in Mahottari, was found from the railway line in Singyahi VDC on Tuesday. The body was found near Singyahi Chowk, according to the police. — HNS
