Uma Singh case

Janakpurdham: The Dhanusha District Court on Tuesday directed the police to send three persons arrested on the charge of killing radio journalist Uma Singh to jail. A single bench of judge Bimal Prasad Dhungel directed the police to send Lalita Singh, Shrawan Yadav and Nemalal Pasman to jail. While Abhishek Singh, Uma’s cousin, was freed on bail, another person arrested in the case — Bimalesh Jha — was freed without bail. According to district police office, Dhanusha, the three persons were sent to Mahottari district jail in Jaleshwor. Dhanusha police had filed a case in the court via government prosecutors against the three. Other accused in the murder case are yet to be nabbed. — HNS

Baby found dead

SAPTARI: The body of a 10-month-old baby boy was found in Degri River in Theliya-1 of Saptari on Tuesday morning. The deceased has not been identified yet. — RSS

Man killed in mishap

BIRATNAGAR: A person was killed when an ambulance en route to Biratnagar from Rangeli hit him in Morang on Monday. The ambulance of Chulachuli Maoist cantonment hit Jitendra Sharma, 28, of Katahari VDC-8 at Chamraha chowk. He died while being treated in Koshi zonal hospital, the police said. — RSS

Bird flu ward set up

ITAHARI: A special ward has been set up in Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute for Health Sciences (BPKIHS) to treat suspected bird flu patients. Thirteen trained doctors have been appointed in the eight-bed ward. — RSS
