Man injured

PHIDIM: One person was injured when a motorbike hit him at Phidim of Panchthar district on Saturday. Thakur Prasad Ojha sustained injuries after he was hit by the motorcycle. He is getting treatment in Panchthar Hospital, the police said. The motorcyclist fled the scene after the accident. — HNS

Mishap kills driver

CHITWAN: A driver was killed when a truck skidded off the road on Narayangarh-Mugling section of the highway and plunged into Trishuli river on Friday night. The truck was heading to Kathmandu from Birgunj. The police identified the deceased as Dinesh Bartaula of Piple VDC-7 of Chitwan. — RSS

Torture slur on cops

BAITADI: Maoist cadres demonstrated in front of all police posts in Bardia and shouted slogans against the police, accusing the police of torturing their colleagues in custody. Police officer Ram data Joshi of District Police Office has been accused of torturing the party’s two district level members — Ishwari Bhatta and Madan Badu. Gopal Chandan, Maoists’ district in-charge, said the police severely tortured Bhatta and Badu. — RSS

JAJARKOT: A women’s group has declared Chhipreta village in Punma-3 of Jajarkot an alcohol free area. Chief of the group Manmaya Gharti said they took the decision as men in the village were recklessly spending money on alcohol and other non-productive works, ignoring their families. — RSS
