SARLAHI: A group of five persons shot dead a person at Gadhaiya VDC in Sarlahi district on Saturday night. Bigan Mahato, 25 of Gadhaiya-9 was killed when the gang fired at him,” said DSP Hanuman Shah of District Police Office, Sarlahi. “The gang entered Bigan’s house and shot him dead at around one in the morning,” said Chauthi Mahato, father of the deceased. —HNS

BARA: One person was critically injured when an unidentified gang fired at him in Bara district

on Sunday morning. KI Singh Prasad Kushbaha, 50, a resident of Paterwa VDC-9, was injured when the gang of five shot at him, police said. Kushbaha is being treated for bullet injuries in Birgunj. -- HNS

Ex-rebel’s body found

LAMJUNG: The body of a Maoist cadre was found floating in the reservoir of Middle Marshyangdi Hydro Power Project on Sunday. Police said the body of Baburam Ghimire, 50, might have been thrown to the reservoir a few days ago. Maoists’ District secretary Mekh Bahadur Bhandary said the party had taken disciplinary action against Ghimire. — HNS

Road obstructed

LAMJUNG: The Besishahar - Dumre road was disrupted on Sunday to protest the manhandling upon transport entrepreneurs. Transport workers blocked the road to protest the thrashing of a vehicle owner and a transport worker. The road reopened after six hours.

LAMJUNG: Senior leader of Nepali Congress and former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Sunday emphasised the need of managing the Maoist combatants instead of integrating them into security forces.
