Jeep mishap

SURKHET: Seventeen persons were injured when a jeep heading towards Birendranagar form Surkhet’s Kunathari met with an accident at Hudke at 5 pm on Saturday. Chandra Gautam of Kunathari, Surej Budhathoki of Birendranaagr, Ganesh BK of Laitkoili and Nepal Army’s Rajesh Tiwari are in a critical condition, SI of district traffic police office Raj Kumar Karki said. The four injured are undergoing treatment in the Surkhet regional hospital. The police have arrested jeep driver Hari Bahadur Thapa. — HNS

Snakebite death

Taplejung: A boy died of snakebite at Phulbari VDC-5 in Taplejung on Saturday. A snake bit six-year-old Nirajan Khanal, son of Rudra Prasad, while he was sleeping at home. He died an hour after the snake bite, said Asmita Sendang, a neighbour. — HNS
