Man abducted

NEPALGUNJ: An unidentified gang abducted Malati Prasad Kalwar, 45, a resident of Pahadiyanpur in Banke’s Phattepur Village Development Committee, on Saturday night. Kalwar’s relative, Ram Chandra Jaiswal, said the gang had taken him saying they wanted to have a word with him. A Bhojbhagawanpur Area Police team has been deployed for the hunt of abductee, police said. Meanwhile, police set Usha Karmacharya, 14, a resident of Dhadbar-5 of Bardiya, who had been adbucted on Friday night, free on Saturday. — HNS

House bombed

NEPALGUNJ: Akhil Tarai Mukti Morcha cadres detonated a bomb in a house belonging to Sarad Shumsher Rana at Jabdaha in Banke’s Kamdi Village Development Committee on Friday night. A team led by Bhagat Tharu detonated a socket bomb by asking the people out, sources said. The explosion caused minor damages to the window panes and walls, Pawart KC at Kamdi Area Police Office said. “Action was taken against Rana for seizing land belonging to the Tharu people,” ATMM commander Bibek said. Rana’s family, reportedly, lives in the United States of America. — HNS

Elderly shot dead

BARA: An unidentified gang of six shot dead Thaga Shah, 70, a resident of Bagadampur in Bara’s Dahiyar VDC, at a paddy field, Bara District Police Office said. Shah’s body was sent to Kalaiya hospital for post-mortem. — HNS

Cop poisons self

BHOJPUR: Policewoman Sapana Bista was sent to Kathmandu on Saturday for treatment against a dose of poison. Sapana is learnt to have consumed poison following a verbal altercation with an Assistant Sub-Inspector at the Taxar Airport police post, some distance from the Bhojpur district headquarters. — HNS
