Rajbiraj: A cadre of Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha (Jwala Singh) was killed in a police clash at Gamhariya Prabaha of Saptari district. The police said JTMM district level leader Dhruba Narayan Sardar was killed in police retaliation. We suspect some cadres of the outfie were injured in clash, said SP Kamal Giri. — RSS

Kathmandu: The government has appointed Dr Dinesh Prasad Pant as executive director of the Nepal Administrative Staff College. Dr Pant was appointed on an open competition basis as the chief of the government body that imparts training to civil employees. — RSS

Jackals run amok

Gaushala: Three people were injured after being bitten by jackals in Gaidha Bhetpur and Samasi VDC of Mahottari on Thursday. The police said Amit Jha of Gaidha and Bhola of Bhetpur and an unidentified man were injured when jackal bit them. SamsiGaidha Bhetpur, Bela and Machhapakauni VDCs in the district have been grappling with Jackals’ menance for the past one week. — RSS

One dead in mishap

Chitwan: Thirty-five-year-old Shyamakanta Pandey of Birendranagar VDC-2 died when he was hit by a vehicle with an Indian number plate at Bhandara of Chitwan on Thursday. The vehicle was bound for Birgunj from Narayangarh. — RSS

Himdoot award

Kaski: This year’s Himdoot Journalism Award will be awarded to journalist Krishna Prasad Banstola. The journalist was selected by the Award Talent Selection Committee for his contribution to democratic movement. Banstola, who got into journalism 29 years ago, has worked in about half a dozen newspapers and is chief editor of the Adarsha Samaj daily. — RSS
